History of

Air Force Association

      It was formed on 15th September 1980, by the great visionary, Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh DFC at New Delhi. It is a duly Registered and Recognised Apolitical Service Specific, Non-Governmental Organisation.

     As on date it has about 1 lakh members of the Air Veterans as Life Time member of the association. In addition, around 20000 Veer Naries are also the members of the association.

      It is one of the only Five Association recognised by the Govt of India, Min. of Defence.

      As per the memorandum of the association, the retiring Chief of Air Staff takes over as the president of the association. According to this norm, Veteran Air Chief Marshal PKS Bhaduria PVSM AVSM VM has taken over as president of the association on 30 Sep 2021.

     Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh DFC is the President Emeritus of the Association.

      The Air Force Association interacts with Air HQs, Min. of Defence, KSB etc., on all policy matters for the welfare of Lakhs of Air Worrier (Air Veteran), Veer Naries and their dependents across the country.

     In addition, the association awards more than 100 scholarships to the wards of Air Veteran from 5th standard to Post Graduates students.

    Every year scores of nonagenarians and octogenarians are felicitated by the Association.

   It also organises the ‘PC Lal Memorial Lecture’ in coordination with HAL, Bangalore. Most eminent personalities from the field of Aeronautics and flying take part in it.

Air Force Association Branches.

    Some Branches in the state capitals were formed on the same day i.e. 15 Sep 1980, when the Air Force Association having Head Office(HO) at New Delhi was formed. As on ate there are 20 Branches in India and two abroad, one each in Australia and the UK.

     All the branches submit their own duly audited account statement to the HO by April every year. Combining all these, the head office gets the entire account duly audited every year the balance sheet is sent to all the Branches for their information.
